The Summer Breeze–an experiment with orange cake and blackberry buttercream

Okay, so as you can see in the title, this was a bit of an experiment, so I won’t provide you with a full blown recipe, as it has yet to be perfected. For this I just used a French Vanilla cake mix, the zest of one large orange and 1/4 cup of orange juice in place of the full 1 1/4 cups of water called for on the box.

Now, the orange flavor didn’t come through quite as strongly as I had hoped, so if you want to try out this recipe for yourself you might consider using a WHITE cake mix, instead of French Vanilla, and using ALL orange juice instead of water. If you try it out before I do, let me know how it turns out!

As for the frosting, I used to same delicious blackberry buttercream recipe from The Refresher cupcake. You can find that here!
